Yikes!

Years ago in design school I sliced this very same finger with an exacto knife...today it was with a kitchen knife while cutting a bagel. Not to much typing or pottery making this week I fear! I remembered how painful the last set of stitches where so I opted out of them this go around. Good thing I had others plans this week.

So sorry, Jen. I cut my finger (badly) years ago on my new Cuisenart when I reached in to stop the spinning slicing blade--guess what it sliced! I did have stitches--and it did get infected. So a long drawn out healing process. I wish you bettler fortune!

If you love NC pottery I'm sure you've heard of Pittsoboro-based potter Mark Hewitt.

Check out this video interview with him about his exhibition at the Nasher. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sCmbFbUpEo

Hewitt has worked on his pottery in North Carolina for nearly three decades. Hewitt draws inspiration from Asian and West African ceramics, and the native North Carolina potting traditions of Seagrove and the Catawba River valley.
